GETTING STARTED WITH REMOTE SCREEN CONTROL |
|
This document will guide you through how to install and use the current version of Remote Screen Control software (RC 1). Before using this version of RSC, remove all previous versions.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide 1. Download RSC.zip
from PerfectSW Download site. 2. Unzip RSC.zip and then, you will see the following files:
3. Create a folder
called RSC under "C:\Program Files\RSC", then, move unzipped files to
this new folder. 4. You can either launch
RSCServer.exe as an application or register it as a WinNT system
service. 5. If you want to use it as an application, simply double-click on RSCServer.exe. If you want to register it as a system service, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and go to "C:\Program Files\RSC" folder. Then, type RSCServer.exe -install as shown below.
You can verify the installation by checking a log file (rscserver.log) located under %TEMP%
or issuing net start command
6. Once installed as a WinNT system service or launched (by double-clicking RSCServer.exe) for the first time, the Properties dialog box will appear for initial configuration.
You must enter initial password which will be used by clients to connect
to this server. You may also change the TCP port, if needed. However, it
is not recommended. 7. If you want to be
alerted before accepting any incoming connection, you need to check
"Prompt you to accept incoming connection" under Advanced Settings
section. 8. If you want detailed error messages generated by RSCServer, you need to check "Enable Debugging mode". If the RSCServer is registered as a system service, the log file (rscserver.log) will be stored in C:\WINNT\TEMP for Windows NT/2000 or C:\WINDOWS\TEMP for Windows XP/2003. 9. To uninstall the RSCServer system service, go to "C:\Program Files\RSC" folder, and type RSCServer.exe -uninstall.
Step-by-Step How To Use 1. Once installed as a system service or launched as an application, you will see a tray icon. You can right-click on it to bring the context menu.
2. To establish the RSC connection session, launch RSCClient.exe from another computer.
You need to provide the RSCServer's IP address and password (see the installation guide - step 6). In addition, you can select the remote screen color depth. Please
remember that higher the color depth you choose, slower the screen
refresh will be. 3. If the "Prompt you to accept incoming connection" option (under Advanced Settings section) is checked, you will be prompted to the following dialog box when the RSCClient establishes the connection:<
You can either accept or cancel the RSC connection session. This
option will prevent users from accessing your computer without your
explicit consent. 4. The tray icon can be used as a status indicator. If inverted, it indicates that the RSC connection session is established.
5. To send CTRL+ALT+DELETE key combination to the RSCServer, you need to click "Send Ctrl+Alt+Del" menu item as shown below:
