SUDOERS - HOW TO USE

This document will guide you through various features available in the current version of Sudoers.

Getting Started with "Sudoers"

1.  After the installation, the "Sudoers" service automatically starts, and it creates "Sudoers Group" local group as shown below:

2.  Add non-administrator users into "Sudoers Group".

Now, you are ready to use the application.

3.  Click on Sudoers's tray icon, and then, you will be prompted to the following menu:

4. Select "Sudo your program ..." menu item if you want to select an application to be launched with administrator's privilege. You can use "Browse ..." button to select a file.

5.  Select Control Panel's item if you want to add printer, add/remove hardware or software etc.

6.  Select Programs item to be launched with administrator's privilege. By default, the menu items are imported from "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs" folder. You can create your custom menu items by creating a folder with program files shortcuts, and configure it in Properties under Programs Menu section. See "How To Customize Your Application's Behavior" section in this document for details.

7.  Once you have selected your choice, you need to provide your userid and password.
Note: you can use either domain\userid or userid@domain.com (UPN) if your computer is joined to a NT4 or Active Directory domain.

How To Customize Your Application's Behavior

Your application (Sudoers) can be customized by changing options in Properties. You need to provide Administrator accounts to modify settings.

1.  If you have bought a license from www.perfectsw.com, you can disable "DEMO Click here to buy" section by activating your license. Enter your license and click on "Verify" button. If verified, click "OK".

2.  You can hide "Sudo your program...", "Control Panel" or "Programs" menu items by un-checking radio box next to each option in Properties.

For Control Panel, you can also choose control panel applets you wish to display.

3.  If you want to allow a few applications of your choice, you can create a folder under any hard drive (e.g. C:\StartMenu") and make it read-only for regular users.

Then, create shortcuts of your choice (applications) in this folder, and change Program Menu location as shown below.

Important Note: Do not select a drive root or folder that contains a very deep hierarchical folder structure. It will cause Sudoers to stall while building the menu item in Program Menu.

Note: all users in "Sudoers Group" will be automatically removed from local administrator group. If you want to add users into local administrator group, do not add them into "Sudoers Group". Obviously, there is no need to add them into "Sudoers Group" if they were already local administrators.
